Can something be done to stop Radio Sprits.com from removing shows from this site?

People have spent years collecting these shows only for them to be stolen by Radio Sprits for their own use, and to sell them for high prices.

They are only doing this because this site is easy to target, they have no proof that they own the shows, in fact they've laid claim to several BBC shows (the BBC automatically copyrights all their shows regardless of age!)

I urge people to re-upload their files to this site, their is absolutly nothing Radio Spirits can do about it, they do not own ANY shows, it's a scam!

They are too scared to respond to anyone's posts on here because they are bullies, do not be intimidated by them. If it goes to court, they haven't got a leg to stand on as they have to prove that they not only own the copyright to the show, but to the actual contents as well.

I seriously don't think they have permission to do half the things they claim, take the Wizard of Oz special, that was part of a series of other shows sponsered by Lux, so in theory, Lux own the copyright to the series, but the Frank L Baum estate own the rights to The Wizard of Oz, so if Radio Spirits claim to own the copyright on the show, then they also claim to not only own the audio version of The Wizard of Oz, but also the films, the books and the whole intellectual property as well!

Sorry for waffling on, but i'm really pissed off with them for doing this (it's only been in the past 4-5 months that shows have been removed), i doubt no one from Radio Spirits will even bother to reply to this, as long as they get money from gullible people, their happy!

Do NOT buy their products, you can get these shows from here or other sites for FREE!

You're absolutely right, and would advise everyone to find the shows they are looking for elsewhere. Any penny spent on shows they've stolen simply puts them in more of a position of legitimacy and builds a larger wall around them on the backs of people who spent years of work finding and optimizing the audio, all for RS to yank them away and sell them. It is absolutely absurd that this is being allowed to happen to American historical items such as these shows.

If what is being reported about "Radio Spirits" is true, then not only is it EXTREMELY DISHONORABLE of them, but since these are all *PUBLIC DOMAIN* programs one must also question what "legal rights" they claim to have!

In any event, if they're successfully using 'strong arm' tactics to get "Archive.org" to flinch, then here's an alternative site to try to find whatever Carl Amari's punk ass is managing to wrench away from the Internet Archive:

I hear you clearly. This is one OTR "caregiver" who is uploading as quickly as possibly! Grab them while you can.

The Radio Spirits business model bothers me as well. It's a variation of the "Big Lie"---the more you trumpet the lie the more factual it becomes. That being said, I don't think Radio Spirits will, in the long run, prevail. The internet is too large and diffused to keep these programs from the public. There are websites all over the globe, many of which would merely chuckle at a cease and desist letter from an attorney half the globe away. The shows are all out there, somewhere.

Yeah. What IS with Radio Sprits, anyway? For, one. I don't think they actually have the rights to ALL of the shows they are claiming they have the rights to. It is simply not logical. They May be 'Attempting' to Gain the rights to many shows and many deals May be 'in the works' to garner said rights. Many, from the estates of whomever can actually grant them "these Rights." But if you don't have it signed, sealed and delivered (and registered) document in hand, then, they should not be allowed to go around and make demands on sites to remove what they don't solidly own.

Have any of you been to their site to see what they offer??? It's crazy!! They offer a handful of shows for some exorbitant price! Their offerings are like 6-8 episodes of a show; 2 from one year. 2 from a completely different year, etc. So you get 8 episodes of their choosing from across 10 or so years of a shows run for around $35!!

???

They seem out of touch with what the public and collectors actually want. Nowadays, people are buying entire seasons of a TV program and they want the episodes in chronological order and without any missing!

Radio sprits is somewhere out in left field with their approach. I mean, who want's whatever episodes from whenever broadcast year in however order. Out Of Touch. Or maybe it's a case of the 'we don't cares.'

More than a decade ago I would hear Radio Spirits over local radio stations. This Radio Spirits thing seems to be a case of corporate lawyers resorting to whatever method they can so Radio Spirits can continue profiting from their business model with what should be public domain radio history. It seems analogous to that scam where someone tells you they'll "Name a star after someone". (There are only some 6000 stars of naked eye visibility!) Times are tough - people will take advantage any way they can. And they'll hire high power lawyers to defend these practices. Radio Spirits ought to be located and crushed some way and do something honest for a change.

let me introduce you to RebelRadio. the digital age, the prodefiner of what RadioSpiratzi cannot do, has pushed us to witness & perform at a greater level: the same level. I agree, get it while you can, the same as enjoy it while you can, do it now, & protect it.

On their site they claim to have sublicensing agreements, without explaining who they are with. They also use images of Superman and the Shadow, both of whom are not public domain characters....seems kinda strange to me

He's talking about the character images, not the shows themselves

Near as I can tell the shows they have had an agreement for some of the CBS shows, ie Jack Benny...also Bob Hope, and Nick Carter....these are the only ones I have been able to find any info about....so post your shows freely....take them down when they offer proof of ownership....hell send them to me and i will upload them.

Just made a quick login to tell all of you that they offer a free trial version of their "stream" which lets you dl their files on mp3.

You could just use the 10 day free trial to take back any files they had removed that way.. or just get them for free.

I find you can usually find most episodes on other sites or over torrents in any case.
